Replacing Wax Melts

Once you find that the scent in the wax no longer satisfies you, it’s the perfect time to replace the melt. Depending on the nature of your burner, there may be a couple of ways to do this. However, we strongly advise against changing the wax while it is hot/in a liquid state. Not only can this harm you, but it can also get on clothes and furniture and be quite difficult to clean. Thus, always change the melt once it has cooled sufficiently and is in a solid state.

The first and simplest method can be used for burners that have a shallow/flat bowl and a non-stick surface. Grasping the burner firmly with one hand applying pressure on the wax with the other may dislodge the solid wax. If so, the job is done and simply pop a fresh cube into the burner.

Many wax burners have deeper, more rounded vessels for the wax, so the previous method may not work for you. There is however a relatively simple method that only takes slightly longer. If you have an electric burner, turn it on low for a short while, gently pushing the wax every 10 seconds or so. Once you feel movement (as the layer of wax attached to the burner has melted), slide the wax out and mop up the liquid using kitchen roll and dispose of appropriately. If you have a tealight burner, light a tealight and place it in the holder. Using the method above, once the wax can be dislodged, remove it and wipe up the leftover melted wax. Then extinguish the tealight (unless you plan on using a new melt right away). It is important to always wipe up the leftover wax as it avoids scent contamination, which may diminish your enjoyment of a particular scent.
